FAQs

What are Net Carbs?

Not all carbohydrates are the same. Fibre and some natural sweeteners are not digestible by the body, and shouldn’t affect your blood sugar. Unlike in the US, packaged food in Europe has already had fibre deducted from the total carb count. However, most natural sweeteners like Polyols are not. So, when we refer to net carbs, it’s [total carbs – polyols = net carbs]. These are the carbohydrates that will be digested by your body and that may affect your blood sugar.

What are Polyols?

Polyols, or sugar alcohols, are organic substances derived from certain fruits and vegetables. Our bodies are unable to process polyols in full, therefore, not all the carbs they contain are digestible. Erythritol is considered the best polyol, with genuinely almost zero digestible carbs. This means we can use it as a sweetener without having it interfere with our blood sugar levels or cause sudden changes in glycemic levels.
